A Tale of Blood and Tears

Requiem is a saga of dark fantasy and historical fiction that merges the mysticism of the supernatural with the weight of the political and religious upheavals that shaped Europe and Asia in the late 13th and early 14th centuries. Written by Brazilian author Bruno More Eyes, the series immerses the reader in a world of faith, conflict, and mystery, where light and shadow battle not only for the fate of the world, but for the fate of the human soul.
The narrative follows Ascalon, a young man of mysterious origin, found as a baby amid the ashes of a burning church in the Holy Land. Adopted by a Catholic bishop and taken to Constantinople, Ascalon grows up at the epicenter of a crisis between the Church of Rome and the Byzantine Orthodox faith, torn between two worlds and two natures.
Marked since birth by a crucifix-shaped scar burned into the palm of his right hand, the boy soon discovers that the mark burns in the presence of evil, granting him visions and gifts that challenge the very foundations of faith. His journey is one of revelations and ruin, of unlikely alliances and hidden horrors, told in the first person with the weight and emotion of someone who relives every memory, for, as he himself says, “this is a story of blood and tears.”
